Oil Minister Says U.S. Companies Key to Developing Oil and Gas Industry
BAGHDAD (NINA) – Oil Minister Bassem Khudair al-Abadi said on Saturday that U.S. companies are a key pillar in the development of Iraq’s oil and gas industry, citing their technical expertise, advanced technologies and high levels of efficiency.
In a statement, al-Abadi said cooperation with American companies was essential to strengthening the capabilities of Iraq’s oil sector and improving production efficiency.
The minister said the Ministry of Oil was working to remove obstacles and expedite contracting procedures in preparation for launching strategic projects in cooperation with leading U.S. energy companies, including Chevron, ExxonMobil, ConocoPhillips, Halliburton and Schlumberger.
He stressed that the planned projects would contribute to developing oil and gas fields, boosting production and ensuring the optimal use of Iraq’s natural resources.
Al-Abadi added that the initiatives would also support the ministry’s development plans, facilitate technology transfer, upgrade oil and gas infrastructure, and advance Iraq’s broader economic development objectives./ End
