BAGHDAD / NINA/ —Finance Minister Falih al-Sari has reaffirmed the government’s continued support for journalists, artists and writers, emphasizing the importance of strengthening their role in conveying the truth and serving society.

According to a statement issued by the Ministry of Finance, al-Sari met on Thursday with Muayyad al-Lami, President of the Federation of Arab Journalists. The meeting addressed the state of media work in Iraq, ways to support the journalistic community, and efforts to enhance its role in promoting truth and serving the public.

The statement added that discussions focused on incentive bonuses allocated to journalists, artists and writers, as well as measures to ensure their continuation and explore the possibility of increasing them under the 2027 budget.

The finance minister stressed the ministry’s commitment to maintaining support for these groups and expanding opportunities for them to fulfill their professional and creative missions. He noted that their contributions are essential to raising public awareness and preserving Iraq’s national cultural identity.

For his part, al-Lami praised the minister’s support for the journalistic community and his attention to the issue of incentive bonuses. He also welcomed efforts to broaden the scope of assistance available to journalists, helping to promote greater professional and financial stability./ End
