Minister of Culture: We look forward to expanding the partnership with the EU in cultural projects and the preservation of cultural heritage
During his meeting with the European Union Ambassador to Iraq, Clemens Semtner, who congratulated him on assuming his new position, the Minister stressed the need to identify priority projects and initiatives for the coming period, thereby opening broader horizons for partnership between the two sides.
The two sides discussed ways to develop joint cultural initiatives in Basra and Mosul—in cooperation with UNESCO—aimed at safeguarding architectural heritage, preserving the cultural identity of Iraqi cities, and highlighting their civilizational value.
The meeting also underscored the importance of continued coordination between the two parties and the identification of joint priorities for the upcoming phase, with the goal of supporting the implementation of cultural and heritage projects and expanding the scope of cooperation.
The Ambassador extended an official invitation to the Minister of Culture to attend the European Union’s anniversary celebration, scheduled to be held at the Al-Mansour Theater, as part of efforts to enhance communication and strengthen cultural cooperation between Iraq and the European Union. / End
