Al-Zaidi Emphasizes the Importance of Iraq-Europe Relations, Particularly in the Economic Sphere and Diverse Investment Sectors
A statement by his media office reported that Prime Minister Ali Falih Al-Zaidi received the European Union Ambassador to Iraq, Clemens Semtner, on Thursday.
During the meeting, several issues were discussed, including the signing of a joint agreement between Iraq and the European Union in the field of investment—aimed at attracting more European investment to Iraq—as well as the participation of European companies in this year’s Baghdad International Fair.
According to the statement, Al-Zaidi highlighted the significance of Iraq-Europe relations, particularly in the economic sphere and diverse investment sectors, in addition to cooperation in the banking sector and the enhancement of trade.
The Prime Minister invited European companies to take advantage of the investment opportunities available in Iraq, noting the facilities provided by the government to investors, as well as the availability of a workforce and raw materials for various industries.
He further pointed out that the "Development Road" project would serve as a catalyst for strengthening economic relations between the East and the West.
For his part, the European Union Ambassador congratulated Al-Zaidi on the completion of the cabinet formation and commended the steps and policies taken by the government over the past few months—particularly regarding economic reforms and the strengthening of partnerships with European nations—following the Prime Minister’s successful visits to France and Germany. / End
