Baghdad Operations Command closes and removes 21 metal-smelting furnaces on the Rusafa side
In a statement, the Command reported that a committee established under Diwani Order 241285—tasked with reducing environmental pollution caused by gas emissions and odors resulting from production processes—continued its inspections of unlicensed factories, workshops, and metal-smelting furnaces.
Working in coordination with units from the National Security Service, the Rusafa Environmental Police, municipal departments, the Baghdad Environmental Authority, and the Bab al-Sheikh Police Station, the committee succeeded in closing and removing 21 metal-smelting furnaces.
These facilities were found to be in violation of environmental regulations and were operating without proper authorization, posing risks to the health and safety of citizens. The 17 owners responsible for these violations were arrested in the Bab al-Sheikh area on the Rusafa side.
The Command further stated that the individuals in violation have been handed over to the relevant authorities for the completion of legal proceedings against them. / End
