Iranian Interior Ministry expresses dissatisfaction over the closure of Al-Shib border crossing without prior notification to the Iranian side
In a press conference, the Spokesperson for the Iranian Interior Ministry stated that Iran was caught off guard by the closure of the Al-Shib crossing. He noted that an agreement exists between the two countries requiring each side to inform the other if they intend to close any border crossing for a period exceeding one day—a protocol that was not followed by Iraq, as no prior notice was provided.
Earlier this morning, Wednesday, a government source announced the closure of the Al-Shib border crossing with Iran, located in Maysan province, without specifying the reasons.
The Spokesperson explained that the closure of the Al-Shib crossing to the movement of individuals and goods would take effect starting Wednesday and remain in place until further notice. /End
